Water heater History

The inventor of the modern day water heater was Edwin Ruud, a Norwegian mechanical engineer working in Philadelphia. In 1889, he designed “the first automatic, storage-tank type gas water heater.” Ruud founded a company with several other engineers and patented the invention in 1897

Since this time WE have been enjoying the pleasures of hot water every day.

Over the years the hot water heater has seen some great improvements in quality and safety, but the basic operation remains the same.

A recent discovery of my own 1 year ago was there is one Item every water heater has that Manufactures dont speak about that if changed ever 3-4 years increases the life of the hot water heater 15+ years before it starts leaking water.

The purpose of an anode rod is to attract the sediment and corrosive elements (like minerals in the water) so that they corrode the anode rod rather than the inside of your water heater tank. In essence, an anode rod works to protect your water heater from corrosive elements that can damage your water heater.
